Screen Printing A.

Although I did this Workshop already in my first year I needed a refresher as I forgot most of the instructions given, which did come back to mind as the technician explained it back to us.

Before I start I wanted to mention that the first thing the technician did was to give us a clear explanation of the safety rulers: no open shoes allowed in the working area, preferable shoe wear would be thick boots but gym shoes will do as well. The floor might be wet, so any participant must be weary of where they put their feet, this also is important as the studio has not a lot of chair but, as the technician noted, people still trip on them. The second part of the safety explanation was where the fire exit were, the screen printing does have their own fire escape, we do not go back in the building main corridors and take the stairs there, and remained us in case of fire of not using elevators.

Another thing the technician mentions is what they do in the open room, it was interesting to note it because I forgot most of the things they do in there.

I am going to draw quick sketches of the process to aid the explanation of what we did.

My Experience:

I loved this experience a lot. I only had a problem with it, and it has nothing to do with screen printing  itself. The trains had a major problems and run late, even if I always leave the house 1:30 hour before to get to Uni I still had to rush and run to get on time in the workshop. This caused me to have some head spins, this caused me to forget quickly the ‘Get ready’ section of the explanation, thankfully I somehow remembered most of it from my previews screen printings experiences.
